General Resources
You will need to use a computer, the Internet and a printer.
To complete each session of this webquest you will need a copy of the blank ‘Memory Lane’ booklet. You can download this as a complete booklet. You will need to save a copy of the ‘Memory Lane’ booklet on a disk or on the computer hard drive.
If you want to handwrite the booklet you will need to print a paper copy.

You may want images (pictures) to be put into a digital format using a scanner or a digital camera. You may need to use picture editing software.

Family Pets Family Favourites - songs, books, places to visit... Family Treasures - recipes, china, an old tablecloth (and include who was the first owner)...

FreeCEN is an ongoing project to make available the 19th century UK census returns (1841 - 1891). This site is continually adding new transcriptions.

The National Archives, on behalf of HM Government, has made the 1901 Census returns available on the Internet. The 1901 census records the name, age, gender, marital status and occupation for most individuals who were alive on 31st March 1901. People are grouped according to the property they were staying in on census day. It is possible to search the 1901 census indexes for free. A charge is made for looking at transcribed data or the original documents. Click on the right to download a 1901 census worksheet.
